CORRESPONDENCE.

[to the editor.] Sir, —A the last meeting of the Borough Council one ot the councillors cast reflections on the footpath that was formed in the Avenue last year. I wish to say that the footpath, instead of proving a nuisance, has proved a blessing to residents along our road, and those councillors, whoever they be, who authorised the carrying out of this work, have earned our thanks, as the footpath will prove a great boon to us and our children during the coming winter. lam certain that not one resident has complained about it. It is a great pity, Mr Editor, that some of our councillors are not a little more up-to-date. What was good enough 30 years ago in the way of roads and footpaths and other public conveniences, should not be considered good enough for to.-day. We want men with progressive ideas on our Councils, and not stick -in - the - muds.—Yours etc., . Avenue.
