J Men Whom We Have Trained to Lead = —oo - - -—^ HOUSANDS of ambitious men have risen from the ranks into the places of the leaders through the help of the I. C. S. They have bettered their positions, doubled, tripled, and quadrupled their salary, and have obtained a sure grasp on successful and happy lives. V 4, DIXON STREET, WELLINGTON, N.Z. No Difficulties too Great to Overcome Some of the stories of the progress made by our students are truly remarkable. As a case in point, we may quote the experience of Louis P. Tenca, 1348 Ellsworth St., Philadelphia, Pa. When Mr. Tenca was going home one night from his place of employment at the Baldwin Locomotive Works, he found a circular lying in the street which impressed him. He picked this unusual looking piece of paper up and carried it home. Not being able to read, write, or speak English, he asked the pastor of his church to translate the circular for him. As a result he decided to become an I. C. S. student. In studying his Course he was obliged to use three books instead of one, namely, a grammar and a dictionary in two languages, and an I. C. S. Textbook. He was obliged to translate bis Instruction Paper into his own language before he could study it, and then translate his answers into English. But with perseverance and the assistance of I. C. S. instructors he gained the technical knowledge which enabled him to advance from a position as mechanic to that of locomotive erector with the Baldwin Locomotive Works, and to greatly increase his earnings.
