Mr F. Pownall, of the New Zealand and Canteibury Farmers’ CoOperation Associations, Wellington,report as follows, all quotations being f.0.b., poit of shipment, sacks free. Oats :—Trade is dormant consequent on farmers limits not being acceptable to merchants, outside business being feasible only on lower values ruling. Increased cost of farm labor is blocking derogation, but, stocks will have to be quitted, b grade Danish list at 2s 6d, s bills 2s 6j4d, gartons 2s 7d, duns 2s Bd, seeds 2s 1 id. Wheat : —Flour trust has thrown down the gauntlet to Australia, aud operations for the next few months will be watched with interest. Millers are stocking lightly, Tuscan aud Velvet firsts realising 4s pd, fowl feed 4s Bd. Potatoes : —Provided growers do not overburden markets, brisk consumption existing will check fuitber weakening until winter is passed. Whites are steady at £4 5 s - Blues £4 10s. Maize : —Small turnover at 4s Bd. Bareev Malting quiet 5s 3d, feed 4s, cape 4s 3d. Peas ; —Partridge active 4s. Split 10s. Bran : Sale and output regular at £5 ss. Poeeard :—Hardly obtainable at £j. Oatmeae : —25s firm at Rolled Oats Oatina 10s 6d. Chaff :—South are hardening with supplies temporarily thinning, asking 97s 6d for bright, aud 92s 6d for medium. Straw Chaff 67s 6d. Hav :—Rye-clover 87s 6d. Straw 455.
