Monthly Meeting.

The usual monthly meeting ot the Board was held last night. Present: Messrs Piraui (chairman), Aldridge, Denton, Cargill, Dixon, Fraser, Guthrie, Purnell and Spurdle. Accounts were passed for payment totalling 9 s ri dResigations :A. A. Hintz, Technical Director of the northern district; L. Clinton, Warrengate ; M. G. Gudgeon, Oroua Bridge ; RJ. Williamson, relieving teacher; J. A. Smith, Whakamara ; R. P. Clarkson, Normanby; G. D. Smith, Mount Curl; E. Herlihy, Kaukauta. • I,eave of absence :—L. J. Tegner, Waioura ; L- J. Macdonnell, E. J. Mcdonnell, South Makirikiri; D. P. Thurston, Hiwinui; P. O’ Dea, Patea ; C. M. Stace.Feilding. The teachers of Stoney Creek complained of the very unsatisfactory cleaning of the school. It was resolved to refer the matter to the school committee. E. S. Baker, pupil teacher at Foxton applied to the Board lor a fee to enable him to get instruction in Latin. Resolved to leave the matter in the hands of the Chief Inspector. The matter of selling the Rata School was left in the hands of Mr Purnell. Mr S. Pearson, of Wellington, wrote asking the Board to have copies of the Ten Commandments hung in the schools. The letter was received. Ic was resolved to grant the application for a District High School at Taihape. The Feilding school committee were granted £2 being £1 for £1 for school fence. The College Street School asked for £ for £ tor gravelling and improving the school grounds, and the Board promised favourable consideration upon receipt of fuller particulars and if same are found reasonable. It was resolved to supply an oil stove for heating purposes to St, John’s School and Wanganui and Ohakune. The Board afterwards sat as a Board of College Govenors of the Girls College. Messrs Bennet and Dixon reported that they had purchased four new pianos for the college making a total of twenty pianos now in the institution. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to L 1460 12s id including Lx 200 purchase of an adjoining section, to the college grounds.
