THE PRICE OF BREAD.
[to the editor.] Sir,—May I claim a little of your space by asking that you will insert the enclosed paragraph as to what the master bakers of Wellington intend to charge for bread on and after May 4th next:—“The master bakers will inaugurate the coupon system on May 4111. Not less than a dozen coupons are to be sold to any one person. These cost 3s 4.d, or a discount of 2d on a dozen loaves. Those paying cash on delivery will be charged 3}4d the alb loaf. Public institutions and shipping are to be exempted.” Personally, I think that unless a reduction is made by the local bakers, a public meeting should be called to decide what action should be taken in order that heads of families may protect themselves agianst what almost everyone considers an exorbitant price for bread.—l am, etc., Labourer.
