[TO THE EDITOR.]
Sir, — I have been interested in the correspondence that has taken place in your columns in reference to the coupon system of purchasing bread, and while agreeing that the bakers have householders under the whip, I do not think there would have been any fuss at all if the bakers had stuck to the 2lb loaf. Perhaps they will see the wisdom of making the reduction and charging 3s 6d per dozen coupons. Because certain bakers in Palmerston are charging the prices the local bakers have adopted is no justification for their action. Haven’t they got minds of their own ?—I am, etc., Dough.
