The Manawatu Herald. THURSDAY, APRIL, 9, 1908. A RASH STATEMENT.

At theWanganui Presbytery meeting at Martonon Tuesday, the following remarkable exaggeration is credited to one of the speakers “ The bottom has gone out of Foxton. The flaxmills have closed down. The men think they will resume work at any time ; but the mill owners tell me that they do not expect to do anything for twelve months.” The Feilding Star does not disclose the name of the individual who it credits with the utterance, but it is apparent that some one, to use a vulgarism, has been “ pulling the poor man’s leg.” Foxton stands higher today commercially than it has ever done.
