LIBRARY SUGGESTIONS.
Fro THE EDITOR.]
Sir, —On visiting the reading room, one naturally looks for the news in the various newspapers ; then he turns to the few weekly ones. These having been gone through, there is a desire to quickly settle down to the two or three magazines. Now, such reading is all very well as far as it goes, but why cannot we have something better than Tit-Bits, Answers, The Bulletin, etc. Would it not be better if there were on the table such papers as The New Zealand Farmer, The Dairyman, or other useful periodicals. Do net the Government from time to time issue a variety of agricultural leaflets ? They might be procured and left on the table; could it not be arranged also that we could take out a book from the library, to have in the reading room, and on leaving, return it. It seems to me a simple affair, and perhaps the Borough Council may consider these suggestions, for they ought to encourage and elevate the public taste.—Yours etc.,
Hoi Poloi Foxton, April Ist, 1908.
