At the Magistrate’s Court this morning, Edward Coyle and William Cameron, alias Harwood, were committed to the Supreme Court, Napier, for breaking into the residence of James Carroll, railway guard, and stealing various articles of the value of ,£l2. Cameron was also remanded to Masterton on Friday on a charge of breaking and entering there. Cameron already stands committed for trial on other charges at Napier. New Plymouth, Match Z 4 It is reported that a strong endeavour is being made to induce the Hon. W. Carncross to contest the new Egmont seat in the Government interest at the general election. Gisborne, March 25. A man named Thomas Rogers was drowned in the Hangaroa river near Tiniroto. Deceased, in company with Edgar Wallace, a sheep farmer, of Tiniroto, was crossing the river, which was in a state of flood, when his horse got carried away, and the unfortunate man was washed off and drowned. The body has not been recovered.
