There has teen some controversy in Wellington and Christchurch -as to the killing of “Kosher” meat. The Christchurch Press says that for anyone to talk of the Hebrew community ‘ ‘ torturing animals for merely religious purposes” is nonsense. It adds tnat millions of sheep and tnousands of pigs have been killed by the throat-cutting process during the last twenty years, and adds: —“To complain because one .bullock is killed by the throat-cutting method every week for the Plebrew community, and to say nothing of the many thousands of sheep that are weekly converted into mutton by the same method, is to strain at a gnat and swallow a camel.” To PXaxmiixkrs. — We are prepared to print the new tin and leather regulation tags for hemp bales, and would request millers to inspect samples of leather before placing orders for same.
