THE INACTIVITY OF MAN OR A BODY OF MEN.

[to the editor.] Sir, —Some few weeks ago, a special meeting of the Foxton Cooperative Building Society was held in the Borough Council Chambers, for the purpose of de ciding the advisability of winding up the affair. As the public seemed so indifferent, and the members more especially were lacking in enthusiasm, and the unds were so slow in accumulating, that it would mean half a life time before another ballot could take place, as I believe one did, although an informal one. Was this the result of lack of enthusiasm on the part of the members, or the inability of those at the head of affairs. If the go-day, come-day, slip-shod style of winding up the concern is any criterion to go by, I, for one, would naturally think that those driving the gee gee should shoulder a lair share of the blame, instead of putting it on to the members. Trusting this will have a tendency to awaken those at the head of affairs before the cold, dreary winter sets in. Thanking you in anticipation.—l am, etc., A Fueey Paid-up Member.
