MOUTOA.

(erom our own correspondent). Some time since Inspector Braik paid a surprise visit-to our school, and his report on it stated that: “The school appears to be finely managed. I was particularly struck with the spirit of work manifesting itself in each child. The teaching is of such a nature as to tell at every point, and the discipline is perfect.”

It will be noticed that the above is a feather in the cap of our excellent master. Our only fear is that we may lose him at an early date, because it is hardly likely that a man of Mr Barrowclougb’s ability will remain long in a school of Mouloa’s grade. As it is, be only took our school temporarily. When he does go we shall all miss him from every point of view. A start is shortly to be made by the headmaster and scholars with the school garden, and other improvements are to be carried out to the school grounds, such as drainage, forming paths, etc. I might also mention, Mr Editor, that we are to have a school concert out here shortly iu aid of funds for erecting the flag pole, when we hope to see a number of Foxton folk present. The recent rains have brought on a splendid growth of grass, wbicli has gladdened the hearts of settlers. The long drought seriously affected the milk supply..

Messrs Saunders Bros’, flaxmill has closed down.

The erection of our bridge is moving slowly ahead. Much of the recent delay has been caused through men leaving the job, but it will be finished about May.
