ANTI-ASIATIC LEAGUE.
A meeting of the local branch of the Anti-Asiatic Deague was held in Manchester House last night. There was a large attendance of members, Mr Hagerty (president) in the chair. A letter was received from Mr J. Cameron, organiser of the Deague throughout the Dominion, stating that he was forming branches all up the Main Trunk Dine, where he finds the Yellow Peril already installed. It was unanimously decided to hold a public meeting in the Town Hall on Sunday, March 15th,when several speakers will address the meeting. The meeting terminated by an address by the President, who stated that there was a further increase of the “ undesirables ” starting business in Foxtqn and impressed on the members present the necessity of immediate action. Mr C. Haydon’s tendered- his resignation owing to leaving the district, which was accepted with regret. The Secretary was instructed to write to Sir Joseph Ward complimenting him on the stand he had taken in regard to Chinese immigration.
