ROWING CLUB.

A committee meeting of the above Club was held last evening in Mr J, W. Rough’s office. Present : Messrs Hennessy (chairman) Gordon, Whibley, Rough, and Fowler (Secretary). It was decided to cancel the contract for new skids, as it is the intention of the Club to build new sheds at no distant date. Matters relating to the forthcoming bazaar were discussed at length. Messrs Gordon and Fowler reported re ladies meeting. A number of stalls were allotted and the ladies efforts give promise of a very successful result. It was reported that in addition to local ladies, a number of others residing out of town and locally who could not attend meetings had promised to assist.

The bazaar secretaries reported having obtained permission from the colonial secretary to hold raffles. They also stated that there was every possibility of Messrs Arnst,' Fogwell and Floyd residing in Foxton during Arust’s training operations. One of the local hotel keepers has volunteered to put up Arnst while he is here and the Club are negotiating for accommodation for the - and hope to find some “sport” to do so and tins will give rowing the impetus it sd badly requires. The- Club have also photographed R.- Arnst; ' the' the challenger for the World’s championship, who has promised to autograph one hundred post cards which will be retailed during the bazaar." The Club are negotiating with Webb for the same. A strong committee of townsmen were chosen to act in conjunction with the present committee as a bazaar committee.

Votes of thanks were accorded Messrs Coley and Rimmerfor their donations of £5 5s and £5 respectively to the bazaar fund. Votes of thanks to chair and Mr Rough, for the use of office, terminated the meeting
