Hide and Skin Report.

Dalgety and company, Limited, Wellington held their usual sale of skins, hides,' and tallow on Friday, 28th instant, when a good catalogue was submitted to the usual attendance of buyers. Wool and skins sold at last sale rates. Hides were well competed for, good heavy sorts showing an increase of to kl per lb, and light ones being on a par with last sale prices. We quote as follows : Wool.. —Lambs (in bags), to 5%d ; fleece, sc! ; x-bred, to 4^d; dead, 4§d. Sheepskins halfored, s^d; x-bred, 3d to inferior, dead, 3j4dto4j4d ; hajfwools, y/26. ; lambs, to lambs damx, 1/10; pelts, 2/2 to 2/7. Hides : —Ox-62 lbs to fislbs, 6j£d to per lb ; cpt 6511JS to 75lbs, 6d to per lb. 52 lbs to 60 lbs, to 6d per lb. Cows — 52 lbs to 54lbs, sd to s>zd ; 39 lbs to solbs, to per lb. Yearlings—i4lbs to 22lbs, to Calf —Blbs to 12’ibs, 4%d to Tallow. —In casks, 21/6 per cwt; in tins, 18/6 to 20/3 per cwt.

Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cable messages from their London House, under date of the 27th inst.

Butter.—The Copenhagen official quotation is lower by 18 kroners (about 20s 3d) per cwt. The market is demoralised. Quotations are nominal. The total imports of butter iuto the United Kingdom for week ending 22nd inst., amounted to 83,ooocvvt, as compared with 104,000 for the corresponding week of 1907. Frozen meat. There is a slightly better demand for frozen meat in general, but prices are about the same. Tallow. —Prime mutton tallow is unchanged. Medium to good descriptions 3d to 6d lower. Low and inferior descriptions, lower by qd to is per cwt. Demand is insignificant. Prices realised at auction for mixed or beef tallow, good colour, 43 —44 per cent., 29s 6d per cwt. Rabbitskins. —There is a poor demand for skins in general at today’s sales. Australian rabbit skins are lower by id to New Zealand skins.—Prices unchanged. Other qualities are lower by lid to 2d.
