..Sydney*- Febluary 24. The Sportsman- says that in the Lancashire match the New Zealanders, though at times showing good football, were our stayed and out-generalled by the clever, active Lancastrians. The colonials were without the services of Wright, Tyler and Rowe, while they played s a man short in the second half owing to Wynyard being injured. In the second spell the visitors made strenuous efforts to win, ; but failed to break the Lancashire line, though the Messenger managed to place a couple of penalty goals. London, February 23. On Saturday the New Zealam ders beat St. Helens by three goals, 5 tries to two goals, two two tries. St. Helens scored 10 points before the invertal, played with a boisterous wind. New Zealand secured the whole of their score in the second spell.
