On more than one occasion we have pointed out in these columns that it is dangerous indeed to allow young children to wander along the river bank unless accompanied by some capable guardian. Early yesterday morning as Chrisie Lett wag taking her father’s breakfast to him at one of the flax mills, in the vicinity of Union-street,
she observed a hU\e lad of about and a-half summers, named Clarence Walls, washing- bis feet. Before Miss Lett could,, to the little chap he slipped ovbjf'alegde and suddenly sank. W*ith commendable promptitude she to his assistance, jutn jped in and succeeded in pulling the boy ashore and returning him safely.' to his parents. Such carelessness on the part of parents is reprehensible in the extreme.
