One Concert In Palmerston.,
Whenever one speaks of the . great singers of the world, the. mind invariably seizes the name of -Madam Clara Butt, whose career on the British concert and oratorio platform has been a brilliant succession of triumphs, which, in the past decade, have been shared by her equally with her husband, Mr Kennerley Rumford. Since her arrival in New Zealand the wonderful success of her. concerts in the four centres have been chronicled here, and evidence to a great degree the extent of popularity enjoyed by these world-, famed singers. The opening cohr cert in Wellington witnessed a remarkable scene ot enthusiasm, and the newspapers there speak of ; Madam Butt’s !sqcal charm as being such as to itn mediately con- : vince an audience. ;that the great reputation which has preceded her . to these shores has been fully borne • out. As some little doubt existed as to whether the great contralto would visit Palmerston on Monday, February 24th, that doubt now being set aside, we feel sure that music-lovers throughout the district will show their appreciation in , a practical form by booking guinea and half-guinea seats at W. Parks’, Palmerston, when the box , plan opens on Monday morning next, for the concert the following Monday evening. ...
