The Manawatu Herald. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 1908. SCHOOL PRIZES.
The public of Foxton were canvassed for money some time ago for the purchasing of suitable prizes to be distributed among the scholars attending the local State School. About £\2 was collected. The schoolmaster has drawn up a list containing names of deserving scholars in each class, who by their industry, attendance, and 'go,od conduct, are entitled to receive a reward. When the contributed they were, we are informed; under the impression tjbat each child in the school was to participate comparatively from the fund. Had it not been for Mr Coley’s intervention, a portion the contributed funds may "baje been swallowed up in the committee’s general account, and non - prize winners Ipff out in the cold. However, the children are to be given a “chivoo”in the school grounds after the distribution of prizes next Wednesday afternoon, and parents are to be invited to be present. We respectfully suggest that Mr John Stevens, M.P., be asked to conduct the prize-giving ceremony. May the kiddies have a real good time !
