CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
A meeting of the Council of the Chamber ot Commerce was held in the Secretary’s office on Thursday night. The President (Mr P. Hennessey) occupied the chair, and Messrs Dr, Maudl, Alex. Ross, Hornblow, Rimraer, per-rt.au and the Secretary were also present. The Harbour Bill, as prepared by Messrs Moore and Barnard was further discussed, representation and endowment receiving particular attention. It was decided to meet the Palmerston Chamber at a date to be fixed after the public meeting to be held on Tuesday night, when the Bill and all other information will be placed before tbe Palmerston Chamber.
It was decided to ask the Mayor to preside at the public meeting, and the President to place the facts and other data in connection with the proposed Board before the public. Mr Jenks was unanimously elected a member of the Council, and the meeting rose.
