“A TRIP TO CHINATOWN."
Considerable interest is being evinced in the visit of Mr Howard Vernon’s Musical Comedy Company to Foxton opening next Saturday and Monday, January 25th and 27th, when they will present “A Trip to Chinatown.” It is not so much the plot as the dressing which matters in musical comedy. The adventures of Welland Strong, the whimsical invalid, Ben Guyer the jolly old citizen who departs from the paths of dignity for a while, and the entrancing widow, Mrs Guyer |r\akes an excellent excuse for the introduction of comedy, vocalism, and dancing, which Mr Vernon and the company make the mpst of.. During the action of the comedy the following items are introduced : M iss Vinia de Loitte sings “Love’s Echo,” “Spring,” “ Jack-o’-Lantera Girl;” Miss Vance, “ When the band begins to play,” “Dinah, the moon am shining,” “ She always dressed In black Mr Howard Vernon sings “ Take off your hats to the King,” “ Mademoiselle New York,*’ “Little Fat Grey man;” Miss Foley, “Tropical Moon,” “The girls with the naughty wink,” Duets, “L.S.D.” and “Of Court. ” “A Trip to Chinatown ’V is well staged, and all the characters are well sustained, and the. piece, a roaring comedy, goes front start to finish without a moment's’ stop. The box plan is now open . at Levett’s and those intending to= see “A Trip to Chinatown * rrr should book their seats early.
