CRICKET.
The second meeting of the Foxton and Moutoa Clubs for the Premiership took place yesterday in perfect weather, and resulted in an unexpected win for the former by the large margin of 74 runs. At the first meeting Foxton won by a small majority, and since their opponents have shown good form, but yesterday Moutoa’s luck was dead out. The glorious uncertainly of cricket was a striking example. Moutoa baited first, but with the exception of J. Puti could do nothing against the bowlof Nelson and Furrie. The former bowled the cracks and came out with the good average of five wickets for ten runs. Furrie obtained a similar number for 18 runs. Foxton’s fielding was good, Whibley making an excellent catch. On going in to bat Foxton started badly, losing Nye for two runs, but Furrie and Bail!ie made an excellent stand, passing Moutoa’s score before the latter was bowled. Furrie, however, treated all bowlers alike, and after making 25 by excellent cricket, leit on the fall of the eighth wicket- An unexpected st Ind was made by the hst two men, P. T, Robinson 19 not out, and Bullard, eight, who took the score from 74 to 106. They seemed to have followed the example of the two last English batsmen in the Second Test Match. There was a quantity of extras, as will be seen by the scores; MOUTOA. Redgrave b Nelson 3 O. Cleland b Nelson 5 J. Bowe Ibw b Furrie o J. Puti not out 16 H.
