Arrival of Tressider.

The famous sculler, who held the championship of Auslialia for five years, has come o\cr to try conclusions with Webb, of Wanganui, for the championship of the world and stakes of a-side. He is accompanied by J. Baines, his trainer, and Fred Ford, a solidlybuilt young fellow who paced Tressider in connection with bis match with Thoroughgood, and as proof of his own capability won a match with stakes of a-side against Kemp, the sou of the exworld’s champion, Tressider is thirty-seven years old, and has been rowing since he was eighteen. He is down to rowing weight, xzst 81b or 12st xolb, and has been in training about eight weeks. Asked whether anything had been at ranged iu the event of his beating Webb, he said: — “Thoroughgood wants the first match with me, and I hear, though it is an indirect way, that Arnst and,Charlie Towns are wanting to contest the championship. As for my own trial, I’ll go in with a good heait and I won’t begrudge Webb bis victory if he beats me.”
