Christchurch, Dec. 23. Sir Joseph Ward states that it is impossible to arrange for a Government steamer to tow the Nimrod to the ice, but the Government is trying to get the Union Co.. to supply a steamer for the purpose. Possible arrangements will be marie for a number of passengers to accompany the expedition as far as the ice.
