THE N.I.T.R.

Nearing Completion. Auckland, Yesterday. The Hon. J. McGowan, who arrived in Auckland on Saturday night, via the Main Trunk railway said he inspected the railway work closely. He thought excellent work was being done. “We hope to see the connection made by the end of next year, without fail,’’ he said., From last (Saturday) trains will run to Waimarino. This will reduce the distance between the railheads to 18 miles. The new section between Raurimu and, Waimarino is seven miles in length.. Splendid progress is being made with the Hiapuawhenoa viaduct by the Public Works Department, and this undertaking will be finished in very reasonable time.
