CONSTIPATION is the most common and fruitful cause of suffering, especially among women. It may arise from a variety of causes, but is most frequently due to a torpid liver. When the liver becomes torpid and inactive the bowels become sluggish and constipated, foul and noxious gases are absorbed into the system, poisoning the blood and nerve centres, and producing headaches, languor, difficulty in breathing, sleeplessness, and general disorder of the system.
