NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS. On 2ist, 23rd and 24th December extra mail trains with dining car attached will leave Hawera 10 a.m., Palmerston 4. 12 p.m., arrive Wellington (W. and M. Co.) 8.10 p.m. ; leave Wellington (W. and M. Co.) 8.20 a.m., Palmerston 12.35 P-ni.» arrive Hawera '6)33 p;m. On these dates the ordinary down mail train to Wellington will not take passengers from stations Hawera to Feilding inclusive, except for Main Trunk line stations, and, on 23rd December only, passengers to catch southern steamer at Wellington, The ordinary up mail train to New Plymouth will not take passengers except for stations north of Hawera. On 24th December extra train will leave Palmerston n.xß a>m., arrive Wanganui 2.12 p.m., making same stoppages as the usual mail train. The extra down mail trains will stop on the Wellington and Manawatu Co.’s line at Shannon, Devin, Otaki, Waikanae, Paekakariki, Plimmerton, Porirua, Johnsonville and Khandallah. The ordinary down mail train will stop on Company’s line at Otaki, Paekakariki and Johnsonville only. Passengers who cannot travel by the ordinary mail train must travel by the extra mail trains above mentioned except that on 24th December the extra mail train to Hawera will not take passengers from Palmerston, Fordell and intermediate stations for stations up to Wanganui inclusive. The u.xß a.m. train from Palmerston must be used by such passengers on 24th December except that passengers to and from Main Trunk line may use the extra mail trains on this date. On 24th and 31st December (Christmas and New Year eves) trains will leave Wanganui 11.30 p.m., Palmerston 3.55 a.m, (25th) Wellington (W. and M. Co.) arrive 8.45 a.m. ; leave Wellington (W. and M, Co.) 11.15 p.m., Palmerston 4.10 a.m. (25th), arrive Wanganui 7.50a.m. Thesetrains will stop at any intermediate station on the Government line if required. The train from Wanganui will stop on the Company’s line only at Shannon, Devin, Otaki, and all stations between Paekakariki and Wellington. On 24th December train will leave Napier 11.30 p.m., Woodville 4.30 a.m. (25th), arrive Palmerston 5.25 a.m. ; leave Palmerston 5.45 a.m. (25th) arrive Napier 12 noon on 25th. On 25th December the 9.37 a.m. Wanganui to Palmerston, 12.40 p.m. Palmerston to Wanganui, 11.40 and 5.5 p.m. Palmerston to Dongburn and Wellington, 10,30 a.m. and 3.55 p.m. Dongburn to Palmerston, 8.15 a.m. Palmerston to Woodville, 1.40 p.m. and 6.50 p.m. Woodville to Palmerston trains will not run. The goods shed at Palmerston North will be clo'sed from 10 a.m. on 21st to 27th December, Parcels and booked goods will not be carried by mail trains from 16th December to 4th January inclusive. EW ZEALAND RAILWAYS • RACES AT PALMERSTON NORTH. On 26th December the usual 5.35 p.m. train will be delayed to leave Palmerston at 6.20 p.m. for Foxton. On 27th December the usual 5.35 p.m. train will be delayed to leave Palmerston at 6 p.m. for Foxton. On both days the usual 9 a.m. train from Foxton will run via Racecourse to Palmerston. SPORTS AT FEILDING. On 26th December special train will leave Foxton at 8-5 a.m. for Feilding, returning from Feilding at 5.30 p.m. for Foxton. RACES AT ASHURST. On 28th December the 9 a.m. train from Foxton will connect with Special for Ashurst leaving Palmerston at 11 a.m., returning from Ashurst at 6.25 p.m. lor Palmerston and Foxton.
