The Manawatu Herald. TUESDAY, DEC. 10, 1907. THE STOCK INSPECTOR.
Thk action of the Agricultural Department in making Foxton the headquarters of the Stock, Rabbit, and .Noxious Weeds Inspector, is a st;p which should have been taken years ago. The district to be worked extends from Waikanae to Foxton and Rongotea. Anyone who knows the lay of the country, will see at a glance the ridiculousness of making an out-of-the-way place like Devin the headquarters of such an important departmental officer. The Inspector himself says that Devin is quite unsuited as a centre from which to work. We hope that the Department will not be fluenced by the parochial agitations of the Devin Borough Council in this matter. We respectfully ask our member, Mr Stevens, whose extensive knowledge of the area to be covered by the Inspector is second to none, to carefully watch the tiddliwinking agitations of our aggressive neighbours.
