Now that local gas works are in course of construction, it will not be long before the town is illuminated by coal gas. Prospective consumers will be comparing the cost of coal gas against acteylene and kerosene. They must, however, not forget to take into account, when making comparisons, the many little extras to be summed up in favour of coal gas. A correspondent to our Palmerston evening contemporary supplies a table showing the cost of gas per xoooft in Palmerston and elsewhere.
