CRICKET.

The penant match Foxtori v. Debaters was played yesterday afternoon in lovely weather and resulted in a win for Foxton by the narrow margin of six runs, the respective scores being 6x and 55. For the winners the evergreen Fred was top scorer was 16 and R. Watson anew comer showed good form for his 13. Nelson was in good form with the ball, taking tour wickets for 17 runs. For the; losers, the Captain (Stiles) showed good form in compiling 22. The smallness of the scoring was due to the long grass, which prevented anything like a big score. As the Council do not seem disposed to do anything in this matter, it behoves lovers of cricket either to form themselves into a working bee, or contribute the needful, which should enable the grass to be cut at a price which need not be prohibitive.
