Sen Sim 1, Le Beau 2, Pushful 3. Hack Hurdles. —Pantaloon 1, Royal Blue 2, Pardon 3. Hack Welter. —Belario 1, Daisy Paul 2, Speciosa 3. Railway Welter.—Chatterer 1, The Stakes, The Rand 3. Maiden Hack Scurry.—lkon 1, Buoyant 2, Windage 3. [By “Probable.”] The Feilding meeting was significant in many ways, notably, the fact that it was the first meeting affected by the vagaries (?) of the new Gaming Act. Metallidans rolled up from all parts of the Dominion, but absolutely refused to “swing their bags ” at exorbitant fee asked by the Club, who, by asking the maximum tee allowed by the Act—,£2o for clerk and bookmaker —barred the books from doing business, and the public were thus spared their deafening cries of different odds. Very few of the popular public fancies came off during the gathering, and punters generally had a bad time. Everybody was pleased to see Maniapoto secure a win in the big handicap first day, and the manner in which he won would suggest that he has come riggt back to his best form, and it is quite on the cards that he may annex one of the Cups at Xmas time. Foxton had a worthy representative at the meeting in Motoa, who annexed a double in ridiculously easy fashion. He is very well just now, and may go on doing justice to his speedy sire— Conqueror. Other Foxton horses to acquit themselves well were Lord Soult (second in Stakes) and Buoyant (second in Scurry). J. Symons is unfortunate with Soult, as the popular pony has had to be cpntent with second place in three big handicaps lately. It was no disgrace to be beaten by Elevation on Friday last, and it is doubtful if ever there was ever a more phenomenal run put in by a racehorse than when Sid Reid’s mount finished in the Stakes. At the turn for home Elevation was second to last, but when the rider got him going, the chestnut must have come up the straight in world’s record time. It is said W. Glover purchased Buoyant for before the Scurry on Saturday. A big price, but the black one may repay him handsomely. Skipper Ryan rode a vigorous race on him, but was beaten by a fast one —Ikon—owned by Fred Douglas, who had a good win over the success of the latter. Waipaku ran well second day, but Toatuhi seems to be off colour lately. W. Carter must be counted unlucky in disposing of Motoa lately. Alf Wright never had Lord Soult looking better than the pony was at Feilding. Lady Disdain ran a good honest race on Friday, and I will be pleased to record a win for her owner at Woodville this week. Shrewd sports are tipping Moral as the best horse in the country, and fit to win a N.Z. Cup. Elevation and Dusky Morn are also good ones, but the manner in which Moral won second day at Feilding, stamps him in the first flight. Arthur Lord had him looking at his best. Belario seems to have struck form, and suited to a distance. Winners at Feilding have incurred the following penalties Handicap ; Moral 51b (9.5), Chatterer 161 b (9.5); Flying Hack Handicap: Motoa i6lb (9.6); Ikon rolb (7.12).
