Feildingßaces—First Day. The above meeting took place yesterday in good weather. Bookmakers refused to pay the £2O license fee, and so were debarred from entering the course, but,they took up a stand outside the gate. The totalisator showed a decrease of £655 on last year’s turnover for first day. There was an accident in the Kiwitea Welter. Sherkeyn fell and Rendrock fell over him. The latter and his rider (W. Young) got off without injur)’. Sharkeyn broke his shoulder, and J. McCombe was rather badly hurt. He was taken to the Palmerston Hospital. Results; — Flying Stakes.—Sl.
