CRICKET IN FOXTON.
(to The editor.)
, Sir, : —If this popular pastime is going to progress, and I see no reason why it should not, judging from the attendance at yesterday’s match, the Council should do something to keep down the long grass in the outfield. To a cricketer whose forte is not “slogging,” it is heartbreaking tir him to see his strokes,.deserving two runs, stopped by the grass. If the Council’s workmen; owing to more important work, are unable to mow the grass; I would suggest that they give permission to some of our local farmers to turn a mob of sheep into the Park; and I guarantee that in less- than a week’s time the evil would have disappeared and a benefit done. Hoping the Council will take a similar view.—lam, etc.,
Ea whence E. Reade.
