ROWING CLUB.
A committee meeting of the above was held in Mr J. W. Rough’s office last night, Mr Gordon presided. The resignation of Mr R. G. Hickson, as secretary, was accepted with regret, and Mr Geo. Fowler was elected to fill the vacancy. Mr Horublow was elected a member of committee vice Mr Jeffery, resigned. Mr F. Whibley was elected treasurer. The resignation of Mr Gillespie as a member of the committee was received with regret. The following new members were elected: Messrs Dr Mandl, Petrie, Perreau, Kay, Gray, A. D. Spring, F. Lawton and Whibley. The Secretary was instructed to notify two members that they had acted contrary to the by-laws in taking a pleasure boat while being unfinancial; the committee expressed their intention to deal stringently with transgressors in future. It was decided to at once revise the by-laws and submit same to a general meeting for confirmation. The Secretary was authorised to procure two locks and 52 keys for shed doors and that no keys be issued until subscriptions are paid. It was decided to procure a diary for use of members requiring pleasure boats, also that a list of members be posted up in a conspicuous position in the shed. Accounts were passed for payment. Mr Thos. Rimmer’s tender for erection of skids at ,£l4 xos, was accepted, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Rough for preparing plans of same. It was decided to officially open the season on December nth, and a special committee was set up to arrange a programme of events.
