WKLLTNOTON WOOL SALKS Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their .first wool sale of the season in the concert room of the Town Hall. The total offering from all brokers was 1700 hales, to which we contributed 641 bales. The total number of bales offered would have been considerably larger but for the bad weather which has prevailed during the past few weeks. There was a representative attendance of Knglish, foreign, and local buyers. The sale was by no means an animated one, and a fair pro - portion of all catalogues was passed in under the hammer, owing to the difference in margin between ideas of buyers and sellers. Prices offered by buyers were on a par with the latest advices from London. Crossbred wools of all descriptions showed a decline of x'/zd to 2d per lb., as compared with the corresponding sale of last season ; half-bred wools were very much on a par with last November rates for best quality, but inferior half-bred showed a distinct drop. We give below approximate values realised, and for the sake of comparison, values obtained for the corresponding sale of last year; Super half-bred, nd to (1906) and lid to medium do., to io^d (1906) and lod to inferior, lod (1906) and g)4d to 9?4d (1907); super crossbred, 10 4d to nVi'd (i9°6) and 9 x /z d to rod (1907) ; medium do., 9)4d to 10I4M (1906) and sy 2 d to g){d (1907) inferior do., 9d to g]4& (1906) and 7d to ' (1907); bellies and pieces, 6yd to 734 d (Tgo6) and 6d to S'/id (1907): stained pieces and locks, qbf d to dead, to to 7, l/ 2d (1907) ; crutchings, to 6d (1906; and 4:}d to 6cl (1907).
