A Reply from the Justice Department. Constable Woods has received the following letter from the Justice Department, through the Coroner (Mr John Mowlem), in answer to a request that the Department subsidise a medical man to visit the Maoris periodically in this district and to advise them in case of sickness. The coroner, promised to make representation to the Department at the inquest held at Rangitane recently : honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the sth inst. ; and, in reply, to inform you that your representations with reference to medical assistance to the Natives in the Motuiti district, will be brought to the notice of the Native Department.”—F.
