The Manawatu Herald. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1907. THE COMING POLL.

We have been asked by a correspondent to state whether the wife of a ratepayer can record a vote onthe question of rating on the unimproved value, a poll for which purpose will be taken on Thursday week. Our correspondent states that much confusion exists on.the point. In reply, and for the information of the public generally, we may state that all ratepayers are entitled to vote. In the case of husband and wife (vide section 2 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1900), any qualification possessed by either of them shall be deemed to be possessed by each. Those debarred from recording a vote are on the residential list.
