CRICKET.

[Contributed.] The first senior match of the season will be at Foxton tomorrow, between the Moutoa and Foxton Clubs. There is a rumour afloat that;, a certain player who was chosen for a high place in a certain club, has sold his services for the season to another club. I.cannot vouch for the truth of the statement. If, however, such is the case, which in the interests of true sport I sincerely hope is not, then players would be justified in refusing to weild the willow during his presence at a match as a protest against professionalism. Perhaps the Association will probe the matter. Everything augurs well for a most successful season in this district.
