Measles are still very prevalent in Foxton. Great interest was centred in the raffles at last night’s bazaar. A dance will be held in the Public Hall to-night as a wind-up to All Saints Bazaar, to which ladies will be admitted free. A pair of check reins are advertised for. Lost between Mr Rough’s residence and Main Street. Additions are made to Messrs Rae-Howard and Co.’s sale list for Saturday next. A special meeting of the School Committee will be held to-morrow evening at 7.30 o’clock. Good progress is being made by the contractor with the erection of Mr Healey’s two-storeyed shop and residence in Main St. Mr John Stevens left Foxton yesterday to take up his Parliamentary duties after a week’s leave of absence. The weather yesterday and today is such as to gladden the heart of man, beast, and bird. We hope this district has for a time at least, seen the last of rude Boreas. The first ballot for will shortly be made by the local building society. Shareholders are requested to make prompt payments, in order to, participate. Attention is directed to Messrs P. H. Rae-Howard’s artction list for next Saturday’s sale. A clearance of drapery, boots, etc., is to be made without reserve. We have been asked to announce that the ’ business lately carried on by Mr E. A. Howe, as ag-ent for Palmerston Cycle and Motor Company, will in future be run direct by the company as a depot under new management. Clients’ orders will now be met with despatch and accuracy, as every member of the firm is a tradesman of several years’ experience.
