ATTEMPTED TRAIN ROBBERY.

A Banker Attacked. St. Petersburg, October 9. Armed passengers travelling on the Dorpat-Walz railway in the Baltic Provinces, south-west of the capital, tried to rob a banker who was carrying a large sum of money.

Escorting gendarme opened fire, and one robber, two passengers, and one gendarme were killed, while the banker and a gendarme and several passengers were wounded. The robbers jumped from the train and escaped without securing any plunder.
