CORRESPONDENCE.
We do not hold ourselves responsible for opinions expressed by our correspondents. To the Editor Sir, —I noticed by your paper of the 3rd inst., that Mr Wilson claims the right to fence in Liddle Street from Clyde Street. What Mr Wilson might have been able to do 30 years ago —if he was then born, and possessed the necessary parchment —-lie will find he cannot do to-day. I have known Liddle Street and Watson Street as an open road up to where the Rev. Mr Duncan bad a gate erected on Watson Street, as long back as Mr Wilson can count years, and if he put up any barrier across the roads mentioned, except where the one novy is, he would very soon find himself “up a tree.” H a road remains open to the public for 21 j'ears [the period is 20 years.— Ed] it no longer remains a private right-of-wajL I contend those roads up to Mr Clemett’s boundary fence are pubilc, and I am willing to back my opinion against either Messrs Wilson or Perreau.—Yours etcl, Old Identity.-
