Christchurch, October 3. A man named Alexander Borthwick Congalton, died suddenly this morning in Broadway’s bakehouse, where he was employed. He had been at work from six o’clock, and shortly after eight fell dead from heart disease. Timaru, October 3. At the Court this morning, F. E. Lamb, architect,,was remanded on a charge of wrongful conversion of money. Bail in two sureties of was allowed. Auckland, October 4. A document was found this afternoon at Preece’s Point, Coromandel harbour, purporting to be a message from the missing vessel Constance Craig. The lines, written in pencil upon a piece of unruled paper, run as follows• “ Constance Craig. We are quite disabled, and there is very little hope for us being saved. Our masts been carried away, all the boats swept overboard, and six men, but there is no damage to her hull. The captain says we must be Soo miles off N.Z., so goodbye, dear friends. Yours truly, James Smith, Sydney,”
