FAREWELL SOCIAL.

At the farewell social to Mr Harris, held in the Methodist Church on Tuesday evening, there was a fair attendance. Songs were contributed by Messrs Bullard, Sherratt, R. Walker, a duet by Miss Walker and Mrs Bangley, instrumental items by Miss Honore and Mr Moorman, and recitations by Misses Waldmann and Thompson. Addresses were delivered by Rev. Mr Aitken and Mr A. Saunders expressing regret at Mr Harris’ departure and wishing him success in his new sphere of work. Rev. J. Southern, on behalf of the Church and friends, presented Mr Harris with a beautiful travelling bag and dressing case. Mr Harris, in reply, stated that anything he had done both for the Church and community, had been done with a desire to help on any good cause. He referred to the friendships he had formed and expressed his regret at leaving the district, but trusted that he would be able to return some day and renew old friendships. On Monday evening Mr Harris was entertained at the house of Mrs Small by his fellow boarders, and on their behalf was presented with a pair of beautiful travelling rugs and straps.

Mr Harris leaves Foxton to take up farming pursuits in Taranaki, on Saturday.
