EXPLOSION ON JAPANESE WARSHIP.
Tokio, September 17. A shell exploded on the Japanese warship Kashima during target practice off Kure. Four people were killed and 36 injured, several fatally 7. Reuter states the catastrophe was due to an attempt to remove an unexploded 12-inch shell from the gun. The majority of the bystanders were fearfully mutilated and the Kashima was badly damaged. The fatalities include a lieutenant, two cadets, and a staff officer.
