CARNARVON CONCERT.
A local concert party proceeded per Mr Wyeth’s drag to Carnarvon, last night and contributed a programme at the school house in that locality to a good audience. Mr R. B. McKenzie presided and 1 briefly welcomed and introduced the performers. The following programme was submitted :—lnstrumental overture, Miss Furrie, Messrs Betty, Henderson and Bullard ; Mr Cook’s fine voice was heard to advantage and he was vociferously encored for his items, “A dream of Paradise” and “ Queen of the Earth,” Mrs Rodie created a very favourable impression with her two items “The Flight of Ages” and “The Last Mile Stone,” the latter being particularly well received ; the trio ‘ ‘ A Little Farm well Tilled ” by Messrs Betty, Bullard and Henderson was redemanded ; Mr T. P. Plender- | son’s rendering of the Village! Blacksmith ” and “ The Lea Rig ”V,.. was voted a real vocal treat; Mr ',, Moorman’s flute solo, was roundly applauded; “ The March ot the Cameron Men ” sung as a trio by Miss Aitken and Messrs Betty and T. Henderson was another success; the duet “ The Crookit Bawbee ” by Mr and Mrs T. P Henderson was one of the star items of the evening and the audience would not be satisfied until the last verse was repeated ; Mrs Healey was in excellent voice and established herself a favourite with the audience, her items being “ Remember . me no more,” and “ Dolly in a Coach”; Mr Bullard contributed two humorous songs, “Johnson’s Evening Party” and “That’s Where You Made the Mistake ” and had to respond; quartette, “Row Weel My Boatie,” was sung nicely by Mrs T. P. Henderson, Miss Aitken and Messrs Betty and T. Henderson ; Mr T. P Henderson’s violin solo was warmly F applauded ; Miss Waldmann’s elo-'A*; cutionary effort “ Trouble in the Amen Corner” was recited very feelingly ; Mr T. Henderson’s song was sung “ The Stowaway ” with nice'expression and Mr Hornblow contributed a recitation. The programme concluded with the singing of “Anld Lang Syne.” Misses Furrie and Cook played the accompaniments. Mr Rockel in a complimentary speech proposed a vote of thanks to the performers for the excellent programme submitted, which was carried with acclamation. The visitors were most hospitably entertained by the Carnarvon ladies before leaving. Cheers were exchanged and the party arrived home in the small hours of the morning thoroughly satisfied with the out- . ing. Lj
