DISAPPEARANCE OF NAVAL APPARATUS.
London, August 31. Reuter’s correspondent reports that there is great excitement at Cherbourg, the French seaport and naval station, over the disappearance of one of the microphones moored off the harbour and intended to report the presence of hostile ships in war time. It is thought that some foreign vessel, knowing the position of the apparatus, removed it during the night time.
