PRESBYTERIAN SOCIAL.
A most enjoyable social, in conjunction with the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild, was held in the Masonic Hall on Thursday evening. Vocal items were contributed by Misses Hamer (encored), L. Aitken, Adams, Messrs Woods (encored), W. Cook (encored), G. Archibald (double encore), and Bullard; duet by Mrs Rpdie and Miss Aitken, and quartette by' Misses Cargill and Aitken and Messrs Betty and Henderson. Instrumental items were: Pianoforte solo, Miss Jenks; baritone solo, Mr Betty ; pianoforte duet, Misses Bessie Speirs and Spelman ; duet, Messrs Rimmer (cornet) and Betty (baritone) ; pianoforte solo, Miss Furrie. Accompaniments were played by Misses Jenks, Furrie, and Cook. Recitations were given by Messrs Clarice and Aitken. After supper bad been handed round an interesting nail-driving competition for ladies was held, which caused much amusement, and for which 12 ladies competed. Miss Speirs was awarded the winner’s prize, and Miss Spelman the ‘ 1 booby ’ ’ prize.
