GAS WORKS SITE.

At last night’s Council meeting much time was spent in discussing the site for the proposed gas works. The company, under agreement with the Council, are to submit a site for the local authority’s approval. This the company has done, the locality being Cook St., but for some unaccountable reason the area was not disclosed. This was last night’s bone of contention. A majority of the Council are of opinion that the area for the proposed works should be at least half-an-acre. We have no doubt that the Company’s omission to state the area was an oversight, and that sufficien t ground to meet the Council’s wishes will be acquired by the company, and the work.proceeded with.
