ANOTHER UNFORTUNATE.

Christchurch, August 5

The death of a child of a single young woman, residing with her parents at Richmond, formed the subject of an inquiry at the morgue this evening. It appears that the mother was visited at her own home yesterday afternoon by the young man with whom she had been keeping company. During the afternoon the child, a fully matured one, was born without the assistance of a nurse. Later two doctors were called in, and it was found that the child had been dead for some tiruc. The mother’s condition was unknown to her parents. A verdict • was returned that death was due to suffocation. It is understood that proceedings will be taken against the young man, who was present at the death, and who is alleged to be the father of the child.
