FOXTON ATHLETIC CLUB.

Annual Meeting.

The annual meeting of the above club was held in Mr M. Perreau’s rooms last night, when a fair number of members were present. Mr M. Perreau occupied the chair. The balance sheet disclosed a credit balance of 19s, a falling off of about £ll from last year’s balance. The report stated that although the year had ended with a loss of several pounds, the balance was considered very satisfactory, considering the bad weather that had to be contended against. This caused a marked falling off in the gate receipts. The special train from Feilding showed a loss of £2 10s 4d. The report stated that there had also been a falling off in the number of financial members, and it was recommended that a special effort be made to increase the membership roll. Eulogistic reference was made to the good work accomplished by the late Secretary, Mr F. Whibley, and the committee desired to wish him every success in his new sphere of business. The report and balance sheet as read were adopted. Members expressed the hope that the elements would be favourable for this year’s

meeting. f On the motion of Messrs Whibley and Hickson, the Secretary was instructed to write to the Borough Council making application to carry out certain work on the track. It was pointed out that the Council were precluded from doing this last year by reason of inability to use Reserve funds.
